FEPPS was formed by a group of college professors and members of the Women's Village at Washington Corrections Center for Women in 2011. Since then, 80 professors have taught 83 courses to over 150 incarcerated women. FEPPS is a Second Chance Pell Site in partnership with Tacoma Community College and a member of the Bard Prison Initiative National Consortium of Liberal Arts in Prison. In 2015, FEPPS enrollment doubled. We became a signature initiative of the University of Puget Sound and, in January, we were featured on the front page of The Seattle Times. Fall of 2015, we hired our 3rd full time employee and welcomed 4 new board members to our team. As we grow, we continue to provide quality higher education to our students, work towards strengthening our partnerships and increasing our collaborative work. Students work towards an Associate of Arts degree accredited by Olympic College and a Bachelor of Arts degree accredited by the University of Puget Sound. FEPPS is a non profit organization and receives no state funding. Since 2014, FEPPS has offered over 200 college and pre-college classes — nearly 100 unique courses, spanning a wide range of disciplines. The inaugural BA cohort graduated in June, 2024. In Fall, 2025, our second cohort of BA students began working on their degrees. Kee’Wee works in radio as an assistant audio editor/producer. She is active with the IF Project as a speaker, Chair of the Advisory Board and member of the Board of Directors.
