Our first BA Cohort!

FEPPS is thrilled to welcome a first cohort of bachelor's degree students! Yesterday was a truly wonderful day, as we delivered 17 admission letters from University of Puget Sound to students at Washington Corrections Center for Women -- all of whom accepted. Many of these students have been a part of FEPPS since the beginning - taking classes before they were accredited - and this milestone prompted the group to reflect on their journeys and share their excitement and gratitude for this opportunity. We know that many phone lines at WCCW were used last night to share this joy with family, children and loved ones.

This is the result of years of work, collaboration and passion from students, faculty, our partners at Puget Sound and DOC, and not least from Faculty Director Tanya Erzen, who delivered the letters herself. It's one of only a handful of bachelor's programs in the country inside a women's prison. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen!

We'll leave you with words that our Program Manager Mia shared with students: "Remember two things. Number one - You earned this. Number two - The real work begins now." (Because yes, they already have homework assignments!)
